From 2009 to the present day, I documented many weddings and families but little did I know that in another part of my country there was Abhi questioning why he wasn’t picked up for adoption, what was wrong with him and whether he didn’t deserve to have a fresh start at being part of a new family? My visual records of several new families being formed paled in front of the longings of a child… So why do we do what we do? As creatives, do we make art for a particular gain or to get a certain kind of return on our investment?
